YOUTH AND PARENT RESOURCES
The Facebook Transgender Alliance is NOT 18+. If you are 18 or older and are not comfortable in a group that is open and welcoming to minors, please seek out groups that explicitly state that they are 18+. We will not be changing this group to be 18+. We're a lot of people's first port of call and it doesn't occur to many people that more than one group might exist or that they should keep searching beyond FTA. We prefer for people to join our group, read, post, try it out, and by the time they work out that it's not for them, hopefully they've made a personal connection or three and those folks can help connect them to other groups, or they've at least realized that there *are* other groups and they can search for them on their own.
This group is, however, 13+, because Facebook is 13+. While teens are welcome to join this group, it's a far better idea for trans kids and teens to talk with other trans kids and teens, and with adults who can talk intelligently and compassionately specifically about the issues trans kids and teens face, because they're very different from the issues that those who transition later in life tend to face. Below are some youth and parent specific ways to find people, make connections, and get support within the trans and allied communities.
